Construction Law
Law on Construction is promulgated by Royal Decree № NS/RKM/1119/019 on 02 November 2019 (“Construction Law”) with an aim to determine the principles, building technical regulations, rules, and procedures in managing construction sector in Cambodia.
This Construction Law contains herein essential stipulations on (i) building technical regulations, (ii) the management of construction professional, its professional practice, and business, (iii) the use of construction materials, equipment, product, and laboratory, (iv) construction, reparation, or demolition permit, (v) design document management, (vi) the use of the building and dangerous building, (vii) construction inspection, (viii) construction or demolition contract and insurance, (ix) responsibility of any person relevant to construction, and (x) dispute settlement in construction sector and penalty.
In addition, this Construction Law has set out five main principles to every construction work which is to protect public interests and individual’s rights; to ensure efficiency, sustainability and environment; to assure land management and urban planning; to develop in green, protect natural resources and environment; and maintain and promote national identity.
