Sharing Insights at SERC’s 28th Training and Examination (CPE Program)
August 9, 2024
Sithisak Law Office was honored to once again be invited by the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) to speak at the 28th Training and Examination and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Program in the Securities Sector, held on 9 August 2024.
During this session, our Managing Partner, Atty. Sokvichhai, delivered a keynote presentation titled “The Roles of Lawyers in Promoting the Development of the Securities Sector in Cambodia.” His discussion focused on the practical aspects of legal involvement in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), bond issuances, collective investment schemes, and derivative trading, sharing real-world experience from the firm’s extensive advisory work in the capital market field.
The presentation began by addressing a fundamental question — “What is securities?” — and explored how a robust legal framework is essential for maintaining market confidence, investor protection, and regulatory integrity. Atty. Sokvichhai emphasized the critical role lawyers play in guiding issuers, investors, and intermediaries to ensure full compliance with Cambodia’s securities laws and regulations.
Through active engagement in SERC’s CPE programs, Sithisak Law Office continues to contribute to the growth and professionalization of Cambodia’s capital markets. We extend our sincere appreciation to SERC for organizing and coordinating such a meaningful dialogue that strengthens collaboration between regulators, practitioners, and market participants.
